I was reading about Moshe Feldenkrais the other day, and one of the things which he talked about was trying to "learn how to learn" and his example of some of the best learners in the world was children. Children are motivated by curiousity and comfort. So I pondered that for awhile.
Seeking comfort is selfish - and we are not "supposed to be selfish" - but who said that anyway - I think the truth is that if we are not selfish to at least some extent than we will not survive. Someone got the idea that to be selfish is to hurt others, and that is "bad". Of course when we eat we have had to hurt out food - and when we breathe we are stealing air from everyone else - and our bodies selfishly take up space........
I started thinking - so maybe if everyone let themselves be selfish instead of chastising themselves and their neighbors, maybe we would actually start having a more successful time of this whole "humans on Earth" adventure.
